ORANJESTAD – A special combined team consisting of members of GNC, DAO and DIMAS, are visiting all companies to evaluate their compliance with the Labor and Immigration laws.

The team established that various employers are not in compliance with the applicable labor and/or immigration laws. When this incompliance is established the team makes a report of the various laws that have been broken. Consequently the company receives a letter requesting their reason for failing to comply with the applicable laws.

There are sanctions for non-compliance. It can be the deportation of the illegal worker even a fine for the employer. The fines can reach a maximum of AWG 10,000.00 for a sole proprietor company and a maximum of AWG 25,000.00 for a limited liability company. The afore-mentioned fines are applicable per non-compliance established by the team. The exact amount depends on how many laws are broken and if it is the first time or not.

The team continues with their inspections.
