An outdoor theater entails the first phase of the overall project, which must be ready on January 16, 2014 for the annual carnival music festival. This festival attracts thousands of carnival enthusiasts from both Aruba and abroad.
The second phase of the Carnival Village consists of, among others, the building of bicycling and walking trails and the construction of kiosks.
Arubaanse Wegenbouw is the contractor that will implement the project and the funding comes from Fondo Desaroyo Aruba.
During the signing of the construction contract, the Minister of Finance Ing. Mike de Meza stated that this project will provide a total revitalization of San Nicolas throughout the year. The government has already renovated the former water tower, which will house an industrial museum. This building will also be used for exhibitions which will showcase the industrial development of Aruba.
A carnival museum in San Nicolas will also be part of the facelift of San Nicolas and surroundings for both locals and tourists.
