This award was bestowed by Governor F.J. Refunjol during a ceremony held on April 24 at the Radisson hotel.
The order of Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau was bestowed upon Mr. G.E. Ho Asjoe by Governor Refunjol on behalf of the King for his great contribution to the sport of swimming in Aruba.
Nine other persons were decorated as Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
Mr. D. L. Boekhoudt received the decoration for his volunteer work of 31 years as collector of donations for the Foundation for the Visually Impaired (Fundacion Arubano pa esnan Visual Mente Incapacita (FAVI).
Mrs. L.O. Yarzagaray- Danje is very active as a volunteer in scouting and is since 26 years active as a board member for the Child Day Care Foundation Te Aworo.
Mr. de Sousa Fernandes Perna, is well known for his work as a board member of various associations, He served over 10 years as honorary consul of Portugal in Aruba and was the main point of contact for the Portuguese community of more than 1,000 people in Aruba.
Mr. R. F. Fingal is recognized for his years of service as a volunteer at the Club Kibrachacha 60+, a foundation that strives as much as possible to keep 60-somethings in Aruba active through activities in the psychological, social and spiritual field.
Mr. G. D. Franca is well known for his years of work as a member of the parents' committee of the Racing Club Aruba (RCA) for children that play in the Children Soccer League of Aruba.
Mrs. M.R. Kelly is acknowledged for her volunteer work with the Aruban youth. She makes them aware of the traditions and folklore of the island.
Mr. J.D.B.A.A.E. Leysner, received the award for his volunteer work as a management consultant of the Dutch Red Cross in Aruba.
Mr. A. E. Thomas received his award for his many years of activity and performance in fencing.
To conclude Mrs. R. C. Lopez-Henriques- Werleman, received an award for her sports activities, specifically bowling.
