Here you will find the holiday schedule for the school year 2015-2016.
Absence from school without permission is 'unauthorized absence'. Hereby is understood regularly arriving late, truancy (skipping classes) or during school time going on vacation.
Unauthorized absence from school by a pupil before or after a holiday is called ‘luxury absence’. If students are absent during this period, the school principal is obliged to report it to the Office Hotline for Compulsory Schooling.
It is not permitted to go on vacation prior to and/or return later than the established school holiday. With the strict addressing of luxury absence the Office Hotline for Compulsory Schooling is sending a clear signal to parent (s)/attendant (s), pupils and schools.
If you as a parent of the aforementioned student decide to go against the established regulation then you can be punished according to the Compulsory Education Ordinance (AB. 2011 No. 82) article 9: " the parent who repeatedly or persistently fails to act accordingly pursuant to article 2, paragraph 1, a cease and desist order by the Minister of at least Afl. 250,-and a maximum of Afl. 2.500,-is imposed to further violation or repetition of the offence”.
Each child under compulsory education has up to 10 school days per school year exemption. In the attached table, you will find the acceptable reasons for leave.
However no additional leave is possible for the following reasons.
